Andrew Duff spearheads Lib Dem 'Green Tax Switch' campaign across the East England

Green Tax Switch Action Week

Green Tax Switch

Tomorrow (Saturday 21st October), Liberal Democrats will be launching their Green Tax Switch Action Week across the East of England. The Liberal Democrats will be encouraging shoppers to support their campaign to cut income tax by 2 pence in the pound and to accept more tax on things that pollute. The overall burden of taxation will be revenue neutral.

The East of England's Lib Dem Euro MP, Andrew Duff will spearhead the launch of the Green Tax switch campaign in the Region. Mr Duff will be out campaigning with activists in St Neots, Bedford and St Albans during the course of the day.

Mr Duff, given a 100% Green rating by Friends of the Earth, said:

"Lib Dems want the UK to be in the forefront of European environmental policy. We are proposing new, intelligent and efficient methods to reach EU targets on cutting carbon emissions.

"Tax incentives to save energy and cut pollution are the right way forward. Under Lib Dem plans, those who cause most environmental damage will pay most tax. Revenues from eco-taxes will allow us to cut income tax.

"So it's a win-win policy: fair, simple and green."
