Andrew Duff, Lib Dem MEP for the East of England will be meeting today (Friday 13th February at 10.00 a.m.) with Melvyn Mallott, Factory Manager of British Sugar, Wissington and Mark Culloden, Agriculture Manager to discuss the some key issues affecting the Sugar industry Andrew will be inquiring of the effects of the proposed changes to the Sugar Regime and its effects on East of England Farmers, British Sugar and the consumer. Andrew will also be finding out about the potential for Bioethanol production and how the industry could develop in the East of England.
Andrew Duff said
"This is a good opportunity to see how the proposed changes in the EU Sugar regime will effect everybody from producer to consumer."
After the meeting Andrew will be given a tour of British Sugar Wissington.
Andrew will then meet with a Sugar beet farmer, Melvin Harrold in Stanhoe, Norfolk to hear his views on the impact of the proposed changes to the Sugar Regime.
